One of Australia’s largest recruiters is holding a national logistics open day on 30th March for operations professionals looking for new job opportunities.

Tim James, senior regional director of Hays Logistics says the employment market in the logistics sector has picked up in the first quarter of the year and there are now more job vacancies.

“There is particular demand for roles within efficiency and also inventory control,” Mr James said.

“Efficiency is about making improvements to performance while inventory is about controlling how much stock is ordered.

“It is more critical than ever for businesses to keep costs down, which means they don’t want to over order stock but at the same time they don’t want to under order.

“Getting it right is a ‘make or break’ for logistics providers,” he explained.

Logistic specialists interested in finding out more about the current employment market, other job opportunities and or registering for the open day should contact their nearest Hays office in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth.

“We don’t want to waste people’s time so we will have a conversation to work out whether it is worthwhile for them to register and attend the open day or if we can help them over the phone,” Mr James said.

According to Mr James the open days, held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth, will consist of continuous 45-minute appointments with specialised logistic recruiters.

“Jobseekers will be booked in for one of these appointments in advance and during their appointment will hear about the job market both locally and nationally, access a national jobs list and hear about businesses that are looking to recruit.”

Mr James said the open day, while allowing Hays’ clients to attract a broad range of experienced candidates to fill their vacancies, also offers job seekers the chance to relocate interstate for work.
