Engineering: Opportunities for specialists

Engineering is a field which provides a range of specialist careers in the infrastructure, mining and construction industries.

Engineers can specialise in computer systems, electrical, mining, mechatronics, civil, environmental, water resources management, communications and advanced manufacturing, or combine studies in two or more fields to broaden their expertise.

Skills equip workers to design sustainable systems, design and construct buildings, bridges and the environment around them, conduct industrial development and water management.

South Australia’s three universities offer engineering studies for undergraduates as well as postgraduates while TAFE SA provides vocational qualifications at advanced diploma and diploma level, which can be used towards entry into university programs.

Other registered training associations in SA can provide certificate qualifications in engineering fields.
