GEO Healthcare is a subsidiary of The GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd – a private operator of correctional centres and healthcare services in Australia for 30 years.

GEO Healthcare employs a highly skilled, professional multidisciplinary teams of healthcare practitioners to ensure people in prison can access and receive the equivalent standard and range of healthcare services available in the broader community.

GEO Healthcare’s team will adopt a person-centred and trauma-informed approach with the understanding that many people in prison have complex mental and physical health conditions that require a ‘tailored approach’ to best manage their specific healthcare needs.

GEO Healthcare will work in close partnership with public, private and not-for-profit providers to deliver the best possible healthcare outcomes for people in prison, with plans for ongoing post-release care and support in the community.

GEO Healthcare embraces  the GEO Continuum of Care® model  in the delivery of health services to people in prison. This approach begins from initial screening and assessment of an individual on their reception into prison, through their in-custody healthcare management and post-release planning and support measures.

Healthcare will be delivered in a manner that is sensitive to a person’s culture – particularly when supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in prison, religion, gender identity and age.
