The Earl of Leicester Hotel was built in 1886 for Henry Pope who was the licensee until 1894. The architects were English & Soward and along with William Ling, the contractor, they built a charming two storey pub constructed of red brick and bluestone. Externally it has retained mostly all of its original appearance; internally extensive renovation still evokes the 19th century with the use of exposed timber, leadlighting and open fireplaces.
