About our teamSIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Administration functions and ore processing and shipping facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney.

About the roleAn exciting opportunity has become available for an Operator Maintainer/Fitter to join our Pelletising Team.

The position reports to the relevant Shift Team Leader working 12 hour shifts on a rotating roster (14 days on (7 days & 7 nights)/14 days off).Main duties:

Performing planned preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure the condition and productive capacity of the Plant assets meets targets and delivers sustainable operations
Demonstrate ability to identify faults through the use of fault finding techniques with the ability to troubleshoot and rectify problems
Working in a professional, timely and safe manner following all SIMEC Mining’s standards and procedures.

About your experienceKey criteria:

Must hold a current Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) or Mechanical trade experience
Previous experience in similar roles in heavy industry or manufacturing experience would be desirable
Forklift, EWP, Dogging, Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets desirable
Experience with conveyor belts, bearings, gear boxes, lubrication, alignment and fitting would be advantageous
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
