Counsellors in demand: QLD
Counsellors are in demand and the trend is increasing according to Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors (AIPC) principal of student support services, Rob Carrigan.
Recent AIPC graduate Judy Marshall relocated to a new community after completing her studies and in order to get to know more people she volunteered her skills at a local welfare support centre.
“I have been involved in voluntary counseling work for about 12 months during my studies back in my home town, so that gave me a lot of valuable practical skills and importantly some value time in the field,’’ she said.
“After a few months I applied for a paid position which was advertised in the local paper.
“I was selected for an interview, and was fortunate in being offered the job.’’
