What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is a format for delivering regular content updates, know as "feeds", to one location. It allows you to stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in.

When you sign up to be a subscriber, new content (such as articles or jobs) is automatically pushed out to you, whenever it becomes available. So you do not need to visit each site separately to check for new content.

In order to be able to read these feeds, you need to download News Reader software or use a Web-based News Reader.

How do I start using RSS?

It takes just three simple steps to start enjoying RSS feeds:

RSS readers enable you to subscribe to RSS feeds from various sites and display them for you to read and use.

To subscribe to a CareerOne RSS feed yopu can:

a) Right-click on one of the RSS feed icon or , and select "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link Location" to copy the location (URL) of the service. Paste this location (URL) into your chosen news reader by following the instructions within that reader.

Or

b) Click on a RSS feed icon to open a new window, select the URL in the address bar and copy and paste this into your chosen feed reader by following the instructions within that reader.

Once you have subscribed to the RSS feeds that you want, your RSS reader will automatically update with the latest content, such as articles or jobs.

The feed reader will present you with easy-to-browse headlines and short summaries, including links to the full content. You can see what's new, and read only the content that interest you.
