About the position
Achieve Group are currently seeking a Superintendent Representative to assist our client with a number of projects in the Townsville district.

The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that both party obligations under the contracts are appropriately fulfilled. The position is responsible for providing contract administration services in accordance with all relevant standards of contract administration and contractual provisions from tender acceptance to final certification on projects as necessary.
The position reports to the Senior Superintendent Representative.

The responsibilities of the position include:
Being aware of the Contractual obligations of the parties to the contract and apply those obligations honestly and fairly.
Provide operational contract supervisory services in respect to construction and engineering contracts on major and complex projects by (inter alia):

  1. Undertaking regular site inspections;
  2. Ensuring site meetings are held at regular intervals and conducted in accordance with a standardised procedure.
  3. Issuing Variation Orders;
  4. Assessing contractual claims;
  5. Processing Contractor's Requests for Information.
  6. Ensuring Building Act Compliance inspections are undertaken and appropriate records kept.

Provide high level advice and information to assist the Superintendent in undertaking and administering dispute resolution processes in respect to building and engineering construction.
Implement contract administration policies and procedures applicable to traditional contracts as identified by the Superintendent.
Act in Accordance with procedures and systems in respect to contract administration and contractual provisions.
Implement post contract performance evaluation systems and procedures to provide comprehensive and timely information required by the Pre-Qualified Contractor Register.
Effectively communicate with Clients and all project team members, in relation to all potential cost and time and quality issues.
Participate in the review and improvement of the operational effectiveness of the Business Unit's Quality Assurance procedures as requested.
Apply appropriate employment equity and workplace health and safety principles and procedures whilst undertaking the above duties and responsibilities.
The candidate's suitability for this role will be assessed against the following five core capabilities as they relate to this role -

Possesses a thorough knowledge of the building construction and maintenance management industry including associated legislative and regulatory requirements and contract procedures.
Demonstrated success in the administration of building contracts on complex projects including the utilisation of building technology in this process

Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team and effectively prioritise work, keep accurate records and consistently meet commitments and deadlines

- Displays personal drive and integrity
Acts professionally at all time and operates within the boundaries of organisational processes with the proven ability to impartially interpret and apply contractual conditions

- Communicates with influence
Proven ability to communicate with Clients, members of a multi-disciplinary project team and contractors in relation to contractual matters

Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications and certificates required (eg. qualification in Project Management, or other building related qualifications)
  • Strong consultative, organizational, and communication skills
  • Previous site management/supervisory experience as well as experience maintaining a good relationship with the client and suppliers
  • Hands-on experience with directing the activities of contractors and crews
