Your new company
Working with children aged between 3-5 years old this organisation is offering a fixed term contract until September 2021 with possible extension depending on funding. Moving between 4 schools in the Palmerston area you will be required to moved between facilities and work in a classroom setting.

Your new role
Provide paediatric school speech pathology service to children, families and schools with an emphasis on early intervention, to optimise a child’s developmental potential with speech, language and communication needs.

The speech pathologist will work in the preschool to:

  • Identify and assess students with speech and language concerns - work with small groups of students focusing upon social interaction and communication skills - work with preschool teachers and aides to implement speech and language programs
  • Provide support and education to staff - support the special education teacher to write EAP goals - participate in school playgroups to provide education to parents and early diagnosis/intervention for children and - write reports for paediatrician and student well being and inclusion
  • Provide information and referral support to connect families to a range of family support services
  • Collect program data and prepare progress reports for presentation to the four schools and other stakeholders where needed

What you'll need to succeed

  • A Bachelor or Masters degree in Speech Pathology
  • A member or eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in paediatric speech pathology service provision
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as a speech pathologist and perform effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing a quality service
  • Proven experience with assessments and inclusive program knowledge and the use of resources to improve educational outcomes for students
  • NT Driver’s Licence and Ochre Card (or the capacity to obtain both)
