Full job description

Your new company
This organisation is a major player in the global construction, infrastructure and engineering sectors with over 50,000 employees worldwide.

Your new role
As a senior member of an in-house team of 4 experienced lawyers, you will report into an experienced and well-respected General Counsel and provide legal advice across each of the company's divisions in Australia.

Duties will include:

  • providing front-end support on a range of major civil, building and renewable energy projects;
  • tender reviews and contract negotiations;
  • formulating and drafting commercial solutions with project and commercial teams;
  • advising on health and safety, regulatory, corporate and compliance matters;
  • mentoring and supervising more junior members of the team;
  • managing external counsel, as required.

What you'll need to succeed
You must hold an Australian Practising Certificate and have 12+ years' PAE in construction law with a front-end focus, with quality training from a private practice or other in-house team. Some previous back-end construction exposure would be highly regarded but is not essential, as is additional experience in property law. You will have excellent negotiation and drafting skills as well as the ability to provide clear, pragmatic and timely legal advice within a complex commercial and operational setting.

What you'll get in return
This is an exciting opportunity to further your career in a fast-paced in-house setting where you will be involved in a range of high value projects including renewable energy and major infrastructure projects. You will be a part of a high-performing team and regularly interact with senior management and various other internal business stakeholders. While this is a full-time position, part time applicants are also encouraged to apply. The organisation also offers a remote working policy which permits routine remote working.
