Nationwide Seafoods, based in Preston is seeking to fill the position of full time Seafood Processor / Smallgoods Maker.

Nationwide Seafoods is dedicated in providing Victoria's Seafood and Hospitality Industry with the Finest Quality Seafood on offer. We are family owned business, based in Preston and have been trading over than 20 years. We are now seeking for a full-time Seafood Processor / Smallgoods Maker to join our growing team.

About the role

Duties/Responsibilities: For Seafood Processor

  • Scaling, cleaning, filleting, cutting, shelling fish and shellfish
  • Inspecting and grading fish and shellfish for size and quality
  • Picking and packing of fresh and frozen seafood orders to meet deadlines
  • Counting packs before freezing, and packing frozen fish blocks into cartons
  • Operating machines which slice, peel, skin and crumb fish
  • Monitoring the process of labeling, sealing, cleaning and/or vacuuming
  • Maintaining and replenishing cool room/chiller and freezer
  • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas

Duties/Responsibilities: For Smallgoods Maker

  • Preparing fish for sale by removing bones, skins, trimming fat and cutting to shape and size for orders
  • Selecting and preparing fish to produce small size cut
  • Cutting fish into different "cuts"
  • Mixing spices and ingredients to create seasonings, pickles and other dressings
  • Potentially making sauces or adding ingredients for flavoring purposes
  • Operating machines which slice, peel, skin and crumb fish
  • Advising customers on the suitability and use of fillet and small cuts
  • May assist in menu planning and scheduling and in estimating food production cost
  • Monitor stock and order supplies as necessary
  • Adhere to strict health and safety regulations
  • Maintaining and replenishing cool room/chiller and freezer
  • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas

Benefits and perks

An attractive remuneration package ($55,000 to $60,000) is offered for the right candidate depends on experiences.

Skills and experience

Ideal Candidate must be:

Knowledge of Fish/Seafood products an advantage but not essential

Ability to process a different variety of fish species

Enjoy practical and manual work

Ability to do quick and accurate work with hands

Good communication and organizational skills

Accurate with attention to detail, flexible and adaptable

Should be skilled to handle knives
