About the role

As the Residential Wellbeing Coordinator, you will be the cornerstone of student support across UNE's vibrant residential system. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will manage the wellbeing function across six colleges, ensuring our residents have the support they need to thrive both personally and academically.

You won't just be managing cases; you'll be building a proactive, evidence-based culture of care. By bridging the gap between residential life and central support services (like CAPS and SAWO), you will lead early intervention strategies, manage complex student welfare needs, and play a key role in our commitment to preventing and responding to gender-based violence. Working under broad direction, you will have the autonomy to drive leading practices that ensure our residential environments remain safe, supportive, and student-centred.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated expertise in student wellbeing and mental health, with proven experience supporting students in contexts of risk, trauma and crisis. You will bring strong judgement and the ability to work effectively under broad direction, triaging concerns, developing practical self-care/support plans, and coordinating timely referrals to internal and external services. You will have highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across a diverse residential community, while maintaining confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries. You will also demonstrate a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and policy obligations (including duty of care, safeguarding, privacy, WHS, disability access and gender-based violence prevention and response) and confidence using digital to support high-quality reporting, trend analysis and continuous improvement.

About the Directorate

UNE's Residential System and Childcare Services form a vital part of the campus community, providing comprehensive accommodation and support services to students and families. The department oversees six residential colleges - Austin Page, Duval, Mary White, Robb, Wright, and Wright Village - each offering unique living experiences that blend academic support with vibrant community life. The colleges accommodate over 1,000 students annually, delivering pastoral care, academic assistance, and social engagement programs that enhance the university experience. Additionally, the department manages essential childcare services, supporting UNE families with quality early childhood education and care options. Through these services, the department plays a crucial role in fostering an inclusive, supportive environment that contributes to student success and community wellbeing.
