Regulation Ranger Job No: RVC329 Location: Casino Employment Status: Full-Time No. of Vacancies: 1 Closing Date: 30 May 2021 AEST We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our Development and Certification team. This role is offers diversity and allows you to work within the beautiful Richmond Valley area in a supportive team focussed on delivering outcomes. About the Role Full time: 9 day fortnight Salary: Range from $58,162 to $66,887 pa + 9.5% super Closing date: 11:30pm Sunday 30 May 2021 Contact: Andy Edwards, Manager Development and Certification - 02 6660 0283 This role includes a leaseback vehicle for work purposes. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure a high level of efficient and effective service in the statutory control and administration of companion animals, stray stock, vehicles in public spaces, pollution and public health compliance and other unauthorised activities under Councils responsibility. This includes: * Carrying out regulatory functions within Council's care and control including but not limited to: companion animals, stray stock, abandoned vehicles, pollution, roadside vendors and unauthorised use on road reserves * Raising awareness to the community and staff of Councils regulatory policies and provide effective educational programs to the community on regulatory control matters, particularly in relation to companion animals * Exercising expert knowledge of relevant legislation including Local Government Act, Companion Animals Act, Impounding Act, and Protection of the Environment Operations Act. * Facilitating effective working relationships and contracts with third parties for areas such as tow truck services, vet services, supply equipment. * Actively multi-skilling across other areas of Councils works as required including but not limited to: environmental health and development control compliance * Applying a flexible and adaptable approach to deliver on Councils commitments outlined in our delivery and operational plans About You You are: * A team player that contributes to achieving team goals and objectives * Able to communicate and negotiate with all stakeholders in a calm and courteous manner * Confident to work independently and make decisions * Able to work closely with external agencies such as the NSW Police Force, National Park Wildlife Services and Local Land Services * Able to be placed on On-Call every other week We are seeking someone who has: * Certficiate IV or Diploma in Local Government (Regulatory Services) and minimum two years experience in regulatory control * Demonstrated experience and competency in handling domestic animals and livestock * Competent numeracy and literacy skills to understand and apply Council correspondence and write reports, interpret, understand and apply relevant legislation, take evidence, and comply with work procedures especially related to work health and safety * Current Class C Driver Licence * Knowledge of relevant legislation including Local Government Act, Companion Animals Act, Impounding Act, and Protection of the Environment Operations Act * Demonstrated ability to be self motivated and work with a minimum of supervision * Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills and experience dealing with the general public, with the ability to deal with people in a calm courteous and helpful manner at all times * SafeWork Construction Induction Certificate (WHS White Card) * Availability to be on-call and to attend call-outs as required * Demonstrated computer skills including MS Office suite * Demonstrated conduct aligned with Councils corporate behaviours supporting our values NOTE: As the activities of this position could involve exposure to Hepatitis A and B or Q Fever, the employee will be vaccinated against these hazards or required to provide proof of immunity against these diseases.
