Your new role
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a highly competent team, enhance business decision making and financial planning. As a Project Accountant, providing proactive trusted advice, influencing decisions with a forward-looking perspective, while ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all mandatory financial documents. Your responsibilities in this role-

  • Supervise the cost, hours, and billing reconciliation, project close-out, project margin analysis reporting, cash management, and audit support
  • Supervise the labor and expense monitoring and reporting
  • Review all costs to date and accrued commitments monthly and endure accuracy and completeness
  • Assist project staff in preparing the rolling forecast and analyse variances with budget
  • Provide advice and suggestions on how to minimise the impact of forecast cost overruns
  • Assist to establish and maintain the project budget and cost code structure
  • Prepare accurate end of month cost reports, in time for project approval and submission to head office management
  • Develop and maintain close communication with the Finance and Project teams and all key players in other task teams for the best financial outcome for the project

What you'll need to succeed
This role requires an individual who wants to add value to an organisation and enjoys partnering and influencing non-finance stakeholders. The following experience and attributes are ideal:

  • Experience working as a project accountant/finance analyst
  • Ability to provide commercial data and insights
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver management presentations and plans
  • Advanced excel skills

What you'll get in return
This role is located in Canberra with a large organisation where you can gain exposure to large government projects. Offering a positive work culture and a friendly team, with an hourly rate of $50 – $55 per hour, depending on level of experience.
