The Role
Our facility at the Hopkins Correctional Centre is looking for Medical Officers to join our team on a part-time basis. Hopkins Prison is a medium security, male facility. Situated at Ararat, Victoria, approximately 200 kilometres west of Melbourne. In addition, this role has an opportunity to work at Langi Kal Kal Prison. 

Our Medical Officers are an integral part of the primary healthcare team at the correctional facility and are primarily responsible for:

• The provision and supervision of medical care to patients
• Providing medical input to clinically related matters
• Evaluation of medical programs and medical services required and/or provided
• Working as an integral part of the health care team for the site and for Correct Care Australasia (Correct Care)

Essential experience and attributes include the following selection criteria:

• Minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience
• Fully registered by AHPRA
• Post graduate specialisation in General Practice: Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or Fellowship with The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine is highly desirable
• Experience in mental health, drug and alcohol and emergency care
• Ability to provide appropriate diagnosis and treatment
• The ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff
• Unlimited working rights in Australia - We do not offer sponsorship at this stage
