- Repair and replace worn and defective parts, including brakes, clutches, timing belts and chains, head gaskets, CV shafts, wheel bearings, suspension, cooling, fuel and exhaust system components, referring to manufacturer service manuals as needed.
- Reassemble mechanical components after repair, and test and adjust repaired parts and road-test vehicles to confirm proper performance and safety.
- Perform logbook and scheduled maintenance services to manufacturer specifications, including oil and filter changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups, so that vehicles run smoothly and comply with emission standards.
- Machine brake rotors and carry out tyre fitting, wheel balancing and wheel alignment checks in conjunction with steering and suspension repairs.
- Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness, conduct pink slip (safety) and blue slip inspections where authorised, and detail the work required for vehicles to achieve roadworthiness.
- Attend to customer breakdowns and no-start vehicles as required, and carry out petrol, diesel and hybrid fuel system repairs.
- Comply with work health and safety procedures, including the safe handling, storage and recycling of lead-acid batteries, oils and other workshop waste, and keep the workshop clean and organised.
