About Your Role

We are expressing our interest in the market for several instructor roles in preparation for an upcoming project in Sydney. We are currently looking for Senior Maritime Warfare Instructors, Assistant Warfare Instructors and Senior Navigation Instructors.

All the roles are within the Avionics & Simulation (AVS) domain and specifically within the Simulation Business Unit located in Rydalmere, Sydney, NSW. The roles are part of the Training Services activity, managed out of Rydalmere, but, will be based in Northeast Sydney. The roles are to provide scenario control and training delivery for Navigation training, as well as fulfilling the roles of scenario coordinator, Commanding Officer (CO), Principal Warfare Officer (PWO) and other whole-ship positions. You will participate in delivering remedial instruction for trainees identified as not performing, provide collective briefing of trainee groups in preparation for future runs and carry out trainee performance review forums with RAN staff.

  • Maintain expert knowledge in the operation of the Bridge Simulator;
  • Run training scenarios for the Bridge Simulator;
  • Attend student briefings and provide feedback;
  • Deliver MWO training in the Bridge Simulator;

How About You?

  • An Instructor shall be a qualified Principal Warfare Officer (PWO) or possess a Surface Combatant Navigation Course (SCNC) certificate or their national equivalent. You should also have over 1 year of PWO/SCNC experience.
  • Or you are an experienced Navigation Instructor who holds a PWO N+ qualification or national equivalent.
  • Assistant Instructors will be ex RAN CIS/CSO Leading hands or Petty Officers with Combat System and/or Bridge Communications experience.
