Full job description

Your new company
A leading and ever-growing maritime organisation in Cairns are seeking an IT Communications/Infrastructure Manager to manage and oversee their IT roadmap, operations and budget to be based either in Cairns or to be worked remotely with travel required one week per month (with all travel costs paid for by the organisation).

Your new role
Your new role will see you be part of the senior leadership team within this organisation (comprised of executives from other departments such as finance, operations, HR etc) which will see you lead, plan and execute this organisations IT strategies across their maritime fleet. You will be put in charge of the technical roadmap, budget, resources & suppliers/vendors/MSP’s which will see you utilise all of these to their fullest potential to not only meet targets but to shape how technology is used now and in the future.

The programmes you will be working on will be both maritime specific and more ‘generalised’ (however both still within the IT domain) to include projects ranging from remote communication configurations to server hardware rollouts/upgrades to the creation of their underwater drone systems.

Whilst being the IT Manager you will not be siloed into focusing just on the IT requirements as every member of staff is encouraged to voice their opinion and to create proposals on how the company can move forward with regards to aspects outside of their immediate domain to enable everyone (not just yourself) to make as big of an impact as possible. This organisation also operates within an open planned office to not only ensure collaboration but to also ensure that every member of staff is working towards the same shared goals, ideas and vision!

What you'll need to succeed

For this role you will need experience across the following:

  • IT project management and budgets
  • Roadmap planning and execution
  • Technical understanding of data security issues and solutions
  • Supplier/vendor/MSP management and liaison
  • Company-wide planning and business initiatives
  • Management of remote communication and IT systems

NOTE: Experience within the maritime industry is not a necessity but remote communication experience is (within the mining domain on remote mine sites for example)

What you'll get in return
You will be offered a permanent role with a leading and ever-growing maritime organisation to be based either in Cairns or to be worked remote with travel required one week per month (with all travel costs paid for by the organisation). Working for this organisation also presents the chance to go on voyages across ANZ to be able to see your work in action and to continue projects live on site!
