Job Description: A specialist family lamb breeding and commercial flock operation based at Cunnamulla is focused on expanding the specialist sheep breed ‘Australian Whites’ within the marketplace. During this growth phase and moving forward, our client is seeking key personnel to support their ambitions and grow with the business. A suitably experienced, self-starting Head Stockman is required to commence at the breeding operation at Cunnamulla, Qld. The successful candidate will have an awareness of the importance of quality management of land and livestock, bring a high level of professionalism and significant practical experience working sheep and undertaking effective and timely herd management practices.

Duties of the Head Stockman will involve handling sheep in a low stress environment, understanding and carrying out animal husbandry practices, mustering and processing large mobs of sheep, maintaining accurate records and handling working dogs. In addition the successful candidate will have a mechanical aptitude, can weld and is able to supervise, coach and lead a team of staff. In order to maintain overall efficiency, the Head Stockman will be required to report to the on and off site business owners regularly regarding stock movements, rainfall, state of waters, sheep body condition, pasture condition and work plans.

At times, the Head Stockman will need to attend the company’s finishing and distribution depot in northern NSW for a length of time when required. An open, manual driver’s licence is required and the successful applicant will be requested to supply a current National Police Check.
