Operations Manager

An opportunity is available for an experienced logistics leader to join an established international freight forwarding and logistics business in Botany.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will oversee ground transport, warehouse and distribution activities, ensuring freight moves safely, efficiently and in line with customer requirements. The role combines day-to-day operational leadership with supplier management, service improvement and support for business growth.

The role

You will lead the teams responsible for FCL, LCL and airfreight collections and deliveries, alongside warehousing and value-added services. Working closely with customers, transport providers and internal forwarding teams, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing daily transport bookings, scheduling and delivery coordination
• Overseeing warehouse operations, inventory accuracy and distribution services
• Leading and supporting team members to meet service standards and operational KPIs
• Managing supplier relationships and monitoring performance against agreed service levels
• Resolving operational issues and customer escalations to minimise delays
• Ensuring accurate shipment records, documentation, billing and reporting
• Monitoring compliance with operating procedures and customer requirements
• Identifying process improvements and supporting new warehouse and operational initiatives
• Contributing to customer reviews, quotations and new business opportunities

About you

You will bring a strong understanding of freight forwarding and domestic freight movements, together with practical experience in warehousing or 3PL operations. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, supporting your team and taking ownership of service delivery.
Ideally, your experience and skills will include:

• Experience in transport, freight operations or supply chain logistics, including exposure to warehousing and 3PL
• A minimum of two years in a leadership, supervisory or management role
• Knowledge of FCL, LCL and airfreight collection and delivery requirements
• Strong planning, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
• Experience managing KPIs, supplier performance and operational reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• A qualification in logistics or a related discipline
