Hays Technology is partnering with a leading Queensland Government department to recruit an experienced Full Stack Developer for a high-profile digital transformation program. This role offers the opportunity to work on modern cloud-native applications that support critical services across Queensland while leveraging contemporary AWS technologies and engineering practices.

Your new role
As a Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and supporting scalable cloud-native solutions across front-end, back-end and cloud infrastructure layers. Working within an agile delivery environment, you will contribute to the development of secure, event-driven applications and modern integration solutions built on AWS.
Key responsibilities will include:
Developing modern web applications using React and TypeScript
Designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices
Building cloud-native applications within AWS environments
Implementing event-driven and API-led integration solutions
Developing Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK
Designing and supporting relational and NoSQL database solutions
Contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevOps practices
Supporting application monitoring, observability and operational excellence
Participating in architecture discussions, code reviews and technical design workshops
Producing technical documentation and knowledge transfer material

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Front-End Development
Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript
Advanced JavaScript development skills
Experience with modern CSS frameworks and component libraries
Experience building complex business workflow applications
Strong understanding of responsive user interface design
Backend & Integration
Extensive experience developing RESTful APIs within AWS environments
Experience with OpenAPI and contract-first API development
Experience developing microservices and distributed systems
Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC and JWT authentication frameworks
Backend development experience using Python
AWS Cloud Technologies
Strong hands-on experience with:
AWS Lambda
Amazon API Gateway
Amazon EventBridge
Amazon SQS & SNS
Amazon S3
Amazon DynamoDB
Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL (RDS)
AWS IAM
AWS Secrets Manager
AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store
Amazon CloudWatch
You will also have experience delivering:
Serverless architectures
Event-driven solutions
AWS networking and VPC integrations
Secure service-to-service communications
DevOps & Engineering
AWS CDK Infrastructure as Code
GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tooling
Git version control
Automated testing and quality engineering practices
Security scanning and DevSecOps principles
Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities
Highly regarded
AWS Certifications (Developer Associate or above)
Experience with observability, monitoring and distributed tracing
Experience designing highly available and resilient cloud-native platforms
Previous government or large enterprise experience
