Full job description

Glencore Queensland Metals
Mount Isa, QLD
Ref. No. 33621

As one of the most technologically advanced mines in Australia, hosted in a world-class polymetallic mining district, Mount Isa Mines offers a wealth of experience and the opportunity for geoscientists to take their career to the next level. With multiple mining methods and onsite ore processing, our geologists understand how they contribute to the bigger picture.

Working within the multidisciplinary Mine Coordination department, an exciting opportunity exists for you to join us, reporting directly to the Senior Mine Geologist as a valued member of the Mount Isa Mine Geology team. As a Database Geologist, you are accountable for the management of the AcQuire geological database and QAQC activities that support it. Your SQL programming skills will enable you to develop a tailored AcQuire database to support both the mine geology and resource geology stakeholders.

As the successful candidate you will have at least 2+ years’ demonstrated mining industry experience in managing geological databases.

This will include:

  • An understanding of resource due diligence and QAQC requirements for geological datasets.
  • An understanding of how geological databases can be integrated with geological modelling software.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with a flair for process automation.
  • The ability to operate geological database software (AcQuire GIM Suite qualifications highly regarded).
  • Additional programming capabilities (SQL, Python, PowerBI, MS Access).

We value your ability to work autonomously and believe your capacity to work cohesively as a member of our mine geology team key to your success. As a database geologist Mount Isa Mines you will receive a tailored professional development plan designed to complement your wealth of existing experience and challenge your development areas.

Mount Isa is a well facilitated regional mining town where candidates at all stages of their career can find a welcoming environment for themselves and their families to prosper. With plenty of places to explore locally, some of Australia’s best tourist attractions are only a short flight away. We offer competitive remuneration, above standard superannuation, professional development and a generous incentive scheme. We are also able to support the successful candidate with relocation assistance to Mount Isa. For the right candidate, FIFO 8/6 rosters are available.
