Clinical Director Aged Operations

Fixed Term – Part Time

45.6 hours per fortnight

Applications are sought from suitably qualified Specialist Geriatrician for the position of Clinical Director of Aged Operations at Ballarat Health Services. The successful candidate will lead specialist medical care and governance across subacute services and provide specialist advice and governance for residential care.

You will be a key senior leader within Ballarat Health Services, and have the opportunity to deliver strategic and operational leadership, whilst overseeing clinical management. You will be an energetic, innovative practitioner with demonstrated experience in leading change, excellent interpersonal skills and promote a positive workplace culture with an engaged workforce.


  • In collaborative partnership with the Operations Directors, lead and manage the provision of clinical service, emphasising excellence in patient care, staff performance, efficiency, education and research
  • Ensure the services provide the highest quality world-class clinical care to patients.
  • Supervise the clinical care of patients, including overseeing clinical supervision arrangements for junior medical officers.
  • Actively enable and participate in the ongoing organisational and clinical development of the staff working at Ballarat Health Services. 
  • Ensure patient flow is managed, optimising the patient journey and the patient experience.
  • Actively monitors and manages the team to ensure the highest level of service delivery


Qualifications and Experience 

  • Medical qualification and current AHPRA Specialist (Geriatric Medicine) registration including clinical practice in a field relevant to the Services
  • Post-graduate qualifications in a health or management-related field and at least five years’ experience in a relevant management role desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in working with senior staff and teams to create and implement a service vision and strategic direction.
