Robertson Barracks is a major Australian Army base located in the suburb of Knuckey Lagoon. Robertson Barracks was built during the 1990s. The Barracks are home to the 1st Brigade and the 1st Aviation Regiment.

The Litchfield Shire (as known until 2008) was named after Frederick Henry Litchfield and the land is the traditional home of the Larrakia, Woolner and Djowei Aboriginal people.
