Your Exciting, New Role
As the Local Laws Compliance Officer, you will undertake regular patrols and attend to the enforcement of relevant local laws. You will investigate all complaints alleging breaches of local laws and collect evidence for further action. Further duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Investigate and where necessary action matters relating to community safety hazards, illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles, overgrown allotments, illegal camping, etc;
  • Gather and document evidence for prosecution, including interviewing alleged offenders;
  • Assist in public education programmes;
  • Prepare reports, notices, recommendations and correspondence relative to inspections;
  • Issue on-the-spot fines in relation to certain offences.

The Skills You Bring

  • Knowledge of or ability to interpret and understand local laws;
  • Experience in inspection, investigation, court appearances and basic report writing in relation to local law infringements;
  • Certificate IV Government Investigations, desirable;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Sound skills in operation of Microsoft applications and mapping programs;
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work autonomously.
