Fernandos Italian is a traditional Leichhardt Italian Restaurant built on the essence of Fernando Riggio’s mother’s kitchen, the bedrock of his family’s upbringing. We are looking for a full time cook who can provide quality dishes which have been prepared, cooked and presented according to company standard and within timescales required for the restaurant.

Job Duties

Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking.
Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
Weight, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgement, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
Portion, arrange and garnish food; and serve food to waiters and patrons.
Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity.
Stock, and restock workstations and display cases.
Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
Estimate expected food consumption; then requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage.
Coordinate and supervise work of kitchenhand.
Assist Chef and Restaurant Manager to plan the menu and monthly specials.
Check the cleanliness and operation of equipment and premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and regulations.

Qualifications & experience

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and minimum 2 years of full time experience
