What you'll be doing

The Financial Accountant, Assets & Leasing is responsible for the maintenance of the fixed assets accounting system and is accountable for the accurate recording of all asset additions, disposals, transfers and revaluations.

The Financial Accountant Assets & Leasing is also responsible for the processing of asset movements in the General Ledger, the reconciliation of the Ledger to the Fixed Assets register and for the timely and accurate reporting of asset financial information to management. The role is also responsible for control of leased assets (including safekeeping of District assets), ensuring that leases are maintained up to date and lease costs are allocated appropriately.

Selection Criteria

1. Tertiary qualifications in accounting or related discipline or other relevant experience.
2. Demonstrated experience in financial principles / procedures / services.
3. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of management and staff. Including an ability to work as part of a team that understands and practices quality improvements and customer services principles.
4. Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office applications and experience using databases, reporting tools and financial systems such as Oracle.
5. Demonstrated high level analytical thinking and problem solving skills and the ability to interpret data and develop strategies to address results.
6. Proven ability to maintain accuracy of data and reporting of financial information within strict timeframes.
