The Radiation Engineering Section provides electrical, electronic and mechanical technological support to enable the reliable, precise and safe operation of complex equipment used for radiotherapy patient treatment within the Central Northern Adelaide Health Service region.

Under the administrative supervision of the Principal Technical Officer (Radiation Engineering), the occupant of this position:

* Operates as a technical specialist exercising a very high level of technical responsibilities and initiative within a multidisciplinary team.
* Acts in a responsible, professional and efficient manner, and applies recognised electronic engineering standards and practice, in providing cost-effective radiation engineering services.
* Complies with Policies, Procedures and Instructions as detailed in the Department's Policy and Procedures Manual.
* Has the primary responsibility for maintenance and repair of electronic and electrical components of the complex equipment, including digital and analogue control systems, low and high voltage power supplies and RF and microwave systems.
* Provides technical support, as appropriate to skills and training, for the software and mechanical components of these complex equipment and related Medical Physics and radiation therapy devices.
* Assumes responsibility for the provision of an efficient equipment maintenance and repair management role in the absence of the Principal Technical Officer (Radiation Engineering) (TGO-5) and Assistant Principal Technical Officer (Radiation Engineering (TGO-4).

Experience with design and manufacture of electro-mechanical devices is highly desirable, specifically skills with fitting and turning. A suitable qualification in Mechanical Engineering is sought and an appropriate Associate Diploma in Electronics Engineering or equivalent qualification is essential. Completion of manufacturers' training on a range of ionising and non-ionising radiation equipment is desirable or will be provided as appropriate.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and compliant Immunisation screening.
