Ngura Yadurirn Children and Family Centre seeks to employ an exceptional educational leader with a commitment to the development, management and delivery of quality programs in an early childhood context.
Situated in Ceduna, 800 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, the Ngura Yadurirn Children and Family Centre is a full time rural integrated service for children from birth to school age providing preschool, including an inclusive preschool programme for children with additional needs, occasional care, playgroups and a range of family support programmes provided by allied health staff, community development and family support coordinators.
Ceduna is known as the gateway to the Nullarbor Plain and it has a tourism industry driven by nearby conservation parks, beaches and fishing opportunities. Ceduna's annual Oysterfest is a major attraction held on the South Australia Labour Day long weekend. Attracting over 6000 people, it celebrates the oyster industry in the clean waters of SA's far-west coast, with a wide variety of activities, including a gala dinner, celebrity chefs, live concerts, children's amusements and a street parade. The finale is marked by a fireworks display.
Research tells us that quality education and care early in life leads to better health, education and job outcomes in adulthood. Children are learning and growing from the time they are born. The greatest influence on a child’s future health, development and happiness is in the first 5 years of life. At Ngura Yadurirn, educators and families come together to celebrate family culture, family structure, lifestyle, language, beliefs and kinships.
The Director plays a key role in building a sense of community whilst valuing the role and importance of our wider community. Aboriginal culture and cultural diversity are respected and valued in the Centre.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:

the ability to establish effective working relationships with children, parents, staff, inter-agency groups and the wider community
knowledge of successful strategies for working with disadvantaged and culturally diverse communities
the skills and expertise necessary to manage and deliver of a range of early childhood programs and services
effective curriculum leadership in the provision and continuous development of early childhood care and learning strategies implemented through programs to meet the needs of all children and families
a proven ability to provide leadership in the monitoring and evaluation of programs against curriculum and other specified outcomes and targets and the presentation of appropriate reports
effective management of resources in respect of personnel, finances and facilities in order to achieve defined outcomes and organisational directions.

Since 2016 the site has successfully implemented the Australian Government funded Connected Beginning programme which is designed to support Aboriginal children in areas of high need be well prepared for school by supporting Aboriginal pregnant women, and Aboriginal children from birth to school age.
The Centre rated Exceeding National Quality Standard in all seven areas of the National Quality Standard.
The successful candidate will hold an appropriate Early Childhood teaching qualification, approved by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). Applicants should refer to the candidate information pack for specific requirements.
