The Australian Taxpayers' Alliance (ATA) is an energetic organisation, committed to defending the rights of all Australians and especially involved in preventing the waste, misuse and corrupt spending of taxpayer funds at all levels of government.The ATA engages in grassroots campaigning, policy formation and submissions to government. We have been featured on TV, radio and in countless online articles and are looking for a talented candidate to help us reach the next level of engagement.

Qualifications & experience

Minimum 5 years experience in advocacy campaigning or government relations
Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (government studies, political economy, etc.)
Basic IT literacy e.g. familiarity with Microsoft Office or equivalent

Tasks & responsibilities

The Australian Taxpayers' Alliance, a nationwide taxpayer advocacy group dedicated to fighting corruption and waste in government, is seeking an experienced Public Relations Manager to assist with our advocacy work to fight for fairness and a more open and free Australia.

All applicants must have a minimum of 5 years experience in public advocacy or government relations campaigning, as well as upholding the following key beliefs of the organisation at all points in their work:

1. That what people earn is rightfully theirs to keep.
2. Individuals are best placed to decide how to spend their money, not governments
3. Governments must behave transparently
4. Governments must not pick financial winners and losers via law or policy

Daily tasks may include:
1. Developing and coordinating publicity campaigns and external communication
2. Advising senior team members on the impacts of any planned policy/program changes
3. preparing and controlling the issue of news and press releases
4. Commissioning public opinion research, analysing and presenting results, and planning related campaigns
5. Organising events, social functions, entertainment, and other promotions to increase the public goodwill of the company
6. Acting as a representative of the organisation, arranging and attending meetings with publicity writers to improve its standing
7. Commissioning photographs and other assorted promotional content
8. Choosing and adjusting material created selecting, appraising and revising material submitted by publicity writers and other media to create beneficial messaging
