* Act as the conduit between IT, the PMO & Corporate Finance

The Opportunity

This business is busy, very busy, and 2021 looks as though its going to be gangbusters in the PMO with an incredible number or projects greenlit for the New Year. Based in the CBD (near central) they are a small but pivotal player in NSW government infrastructure who have a raft of process improvement initiatives and changes underway due to the COVID pandemic. All of this has finance under the pump and has created an opportunity to hire a new staff member, initially on a contract basis but with a view to transition into a permanent role within six months.

The Role

Supporting the FP&A Manager and acting as a Finance Business Partner to the PMO; you will be tasked with driving the financial analysis of and determining the performance (against budget & forecast) of pretty much every single project within the business. Your duties will include but not be limited to:

* Assisting with the annual OPEX and CAPEX budgeting process;
* Provide finance support to various IT projects including costing, forecasting, budgeting and reporting;
* Conduct variance analysis on actual vs forecasting for any project budget;
* Generate a range of management reports for Project Managers as well as work with Corporate Finance on contributing to Board Reports;
* Perform analysis of financial data and reports, presenting results, insights and interpretations clearly which is fit for audience and purpose;
* Provide financial support and insights directly to the CIO and other C-Suite executives;
* Implement process improvements for project and commercial management purposes that also meet broader corporate finance requirements; and
* BIG ONE: There is a lot of analysis of the workforce, headcount optimization, rostering etc. for projects to maximize cost-savings though a deep analysis and understanding the employee activity across the group. Someone from a retail or facilities services environment which has tackled this sort of in-depth analysis is highly desirable!

Your Background

* CA, CPA or CIMA qualified;
* Advanced knowledge of Excel -data is extracted from multiple sources and the role requires a lot of analysis and modelling (so strong modelling skills a must);
* You will ideally have worked as a finance business partner to IT, or a PMO;
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills are critical as you will regularly deal with C-Suite executives and Project Directors/Managers;
* The ability to explain financial concepts and performance to non-finance people; and
* If you have strong experience with workforce analysis (looking at headcount, rostering, award rates etc.) in a large complex workforce highlit it!
