10699 - Sport and Recreation Officer Work Type: Permanent Full Time Location: Emerald Department: Communities Award: Stream A, Level 3: $70,029.96 - $74,852.55 plus 10% superannuation Are you passionate about the sports and recreation programs and facilities in your local community? Central Highlands Regional Council is currently seeking a Sports and Recreation Officer to join the team! In this role you will be responsible for engaging with local sports groups, facility users and the broader community to deliver diverse sports and recreation opportunities and involvement. You will have a good understanding of the sports and recreation industry as well as excellent administrative skill and a community focused approach. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will ensure that positive relationships between the local community and Council are maintained. In this busy role, your daily activities will include: Develop and implement sports and recreation programs Managing the bookings and events for the various sports and recreation facilities including show grounds and sporting venues Actively engaging with the local community, sports clubs and the broader community Managing community grant applications Coordinating scheduled and responsive maintenance activities of the sports and recreation facilities Completing a high volume of administration tasks in a deadline driven environment To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess: A passion for providing diverse sport and recreation opportunities to your community Strong administration and organisational skills A flexible approach whilst focusing on delivering results Previous exposure to coordinating or supervising external work teams Exceptional written and oral communication skills Positive customer service centric approach Current Queensland C Class Drivers Licence Queensland Working with Children Blue Card or ability to obtain If you are looking for a diverse and rewarding career opportunity, then we want to hear from you! Our region extends over approximately 60,000 square kilometres, stretching from Arcadia Valley in the south to the Peak Ranges in the north, east from Boolburra to Bogantungan in the west.


We administer in excess of $1.1 billion in assets, including nine library branches, six aquatic centres and seven customer service centres. We maintain 4632 km of roads and numerous parks and gardens, including the impressive botanical gardens in Emerald, the linear parkland in Capella and the Japanese Gardens in Blackwater.


Other services include youth and indigenous programs, art spaces, cultural and community development, animal management, public housing, water and sewerage, waste collection and kerbside recycling.
