They have been supporting people living with disabilities in the region for nearly 70 years. Their purpose is to provide tailored solutions to assist people to live the life they want. Due to growth in the demand for their services, the organisation is seeking passionate people to join their team in Townsville.

Your new role

No previous experience is necessary, as you will receive training. However, we welcome applications from experienced Support Workers as well. As a Support Worker, you will provide exceptional care, including manual handling of customers and providing personal care whilst maintaining their privacy and dignity and enhancing their independence in in-home, group and community settings.

To do this, you will:

work from the heart and focus on people achieving their goals
make the most of the time you have to provide positive social interactions

ensure the customer's personal care needs, goals and objectives are being met within established parameters.

work within a team whilst recognising the skills and abilities of others
engage in positive promotion of the organisation's services in all interactions with customers, their families, friends, advocates, members of the community and organisations.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed as a Support Worker, it is essential that you will be able to:

work as both a team player and autonomously
work with a wide range of people including the aged and people with disability
follow organisational policies, procedures and safe work practices and
and have sound verbal and written communication skills, as well as numeracy, literary and computer skills.

The Mandatory requirements for this position:

Working entitlements in Australia
A current 'C' Class Driver Licence, acceptable under Queensland Legislation
A National Police Check (will be completed via employer)
Current First Aid & CPR (or willing to obtain if successful)
Be willing to undergo a Disability Services (DS) Criminal History Screening (Yellow Card) and Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
Be willing to undergo and pass Drug and Alcohol testing and a Pre-employment Functional Assessment.
It is a condition of employment that you have a smart phone or a device with Wi-Fi access for work purposes.
