Period of Appointment

Up to 12 months

Hours per fortnight

Up to 73.5 hours - flexible options available.

Duties

1. Develop appropriate strategic IT and IM plans, standards and procedures to ensure efficient and effective information technology and information systems in the Department and MPS.
2. Identify, research and assess emerging and new computing and networking technologies and determine their suitability for the Department and MPS.
3. Negotiate major IT and IM agreements with various vendors, service providers and contractors.
4. Provide high-level advice regarding the utilisation of the department's information systems and resources and devise strategies for the resolution of complex information system and/or resource-related problems.
5. Define, plan, manage and co-ordinate major information projects including the preparation of appropriate business cases and project plans and ensure the efficient implementation of the projects.
6. Manage the finances, assets, staff and activities of the Information and Technology Services (ITS) Branch to ensure the provision of effective and efficient information systems support services to the divisions of the Department (excluding Whole of Government Services) and to MPS.
7. Participate in the overall management of the Corporate and Culture Division and represent the Department at various whole-of-government and inter-department forums.

Desirable Requirements

Appropriate tertiary qualifications are desirable.
