Service NSW is expanding our strong team of Driver Testers in Leeton.

Driver Testers facilitate a variety of customer transactions, with their primary responsibility being the evaluation of applicants for new or renewed licences to make sure they meet the required standards to be safe drivers.

These roles are 6-month contracts joining our Relief Pool moving between Service Centres in Sydney metro and NSW regional locations, to manage the backlog of applications in the wake of the COVID-19.

To be a successful Driver Tester you will be able to demonstrate:

A calm nature and ability to quickly identify and mitigate risks
Flexibility and a willingness to travel at short notice, which may include overnight stays in regional areas
Ability to quickly establish rapport and understand different customer needs, modifying your approach accordingly
Ability to understand, abide by and apply rules to ensure safety and legislative requirements are met
Effective communication skills to provide both positive and negative feedback to driving test applicants

To be eligible to apply you MUST:

Possess a current, unrestricted Australian driver licence (excluding a provisional or learner licence) which you have held for a minimum of three years
Have a satisfactory driving record
Be willing and able to successfully complete the relevant training
Be willing to progress to a Class HC licence and undertake training to conduct tests for all licence classes and categories as required

In addition to an online assessment and interview, the recruitment process will include:

Licence Check to confirm satisfactory driving record
Driver Knowledge Test (90 questions)
Practical driving test in a manual vehicle (you will be required to supply a manual vehicle for the test)
Police check, reference checks

What's in it for you:

Grade 5 position with a base salary of $77,643pa + super + annual leave loading (total package $86,060pa)
Temporary contract in a full time capacity for a minimum of 6 months
The operational hours of our Service Centres vary. Flexibility will be required to work a rotating roster in line with Service Centre operating hours and will involve working 35 hours per week across 5 days which may include Saturdays
Positions available in multiple locations in metro and regional areas

Additional information
Assessment Centres will be held the week of 9th June 2020 in person in Sydney.
Intended start date is late June 2020.
Part of the assessment process includes additional online capability testing, skills testing or work samples in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013.
