What a Youth Worker does

Assist to develop the life skills of the people you support within the home, school and in the general
Supports children and young people of varied ages often with complex behavioural or medical needs
At times may need to assist or prompt with personal care, toileting, showering, daily grooming tasks
Assist in the administration of medication
Transportation to appointments, school, outings and community participation programs
Assist and implements personal growth and development plans for the child or young person
Coordinates and collaborates with school educators and assists in implementation of educational plans

Essential Skills

Qualification – Possess or are currently working towards a diploma in youth Services or equivalent
First Aid Certificate
Computer Literacy – Ability to use Client Management Systems
WWCC Working with Children Check
National Police Check
Applicable State checks to work with vulnerable people if required
Knowledge of Child Protection and mandatory reporting within applicable state
Well-developed interpersonal, written communications literacy
Drivers Licence
Comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicle (community participation roles)

About Sector

Child, Youth and Family Worker roles are often initially on a casual basis and progress to part or full time as you continue with the organisation. Hours usually are determined on the client base and if you are adapting easily to the working environment and tasks required. Organisation will provide support through training and mentoring opportunities to develop your skills further.
