The Organisation

This LHD services the region that stretches along the coast south of the Sydney metropolitan area and spans the four local government areas of Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Shoalhaven. The area's population is just over 351,314 and is growing by 0.9% per year with the higher growth being experienced in Kiama and Shoalhaven.

You will be working in a 200 bed rural district hospital, located 2.5 hours drive south of Sydney. The Emergency Department sees approximately 35,000 presentations per annum. The Emergency Department patient population is wide and varied,with a high number of complex medical and geriatric patients.

The Job

You will provide effective emergency medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment.
You will be working in a mixed rural ED that is perfect for developing skills and independence in a safe and supported environment.
You will provide supervision of the care provided by more junior medical staff in the Emergency Department.
You will participate in a seven day per week roster inclusive of night shifts.
The ED CMO provides assessment, care and treatment of patients presenting through the Emergency Department
CMOs are encouraged to make decisions independently for low acuity cases.
You will work as part of and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team

Requirements

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
Extensive clinical experience in Emergency Medicine
