The National Archives is seeking an experienced Executive level employee for the Director People Management and Development position. The successful candidate will have experience in a leadership capacity across a range of human resource functions delivering outcomes at the whole of organisational level, have successfully managed a team of staff and section budget and have personal drive, initiative, resilience, and strong communication and decision making skills.

We are looking for candidates with experience in the delivery of strategic people management policy and planning outcomes including workplace relations, performance management, organisational culture, workforce planning, and learning and development). Relevant experience in the oversight of accurate and timely recruitment, payroll services and the provision of conditions of service advice is also desirable.

The key duties of the position include
Under broad direction the main duties of the role include:

1. Provide strategic advice and direction in relation to contemporary people management issues to assist the National Archives meet its corporate objectives.
2. Lead and manage the development and delivery of contemporary people management policies and practices to assist the National Archives to meet its strategic objectives (including: workforce planning; workplace relations; organisational culture; learning and development; recruitment; workplace health and safety; diversity and performance management).
3. Manage investigations, including exercising related delegations, into employee grievances, requests for reviews of decisions and code of conduct matters.
4. Manage a range of contracts that support the provision of people management and development services to the National Archives, including an outsourced payroll contract, rehabilitation and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services to ensure efficient and effective services to the National Archives.
5. Initiate, build and maintain effective relationships, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to negotiate and represent the interests of the National Archives.
6. Promote and apply the APS and National Archives values and contemporary people management principles and practices in diversity, workplace health and safety and participative management.
7. Implement, promote and apply the National Archives' Vision, Mission and cultural commitments.
