What you'll be doing

The NSLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce will be compassionate, competent, confident, contemporary, capable and committed to leading person-centred health care.

The Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for providing clinical leadership and manage the Acute / Post Acute Care (APAC) Centre in accordance with NSW Health, Northern Sydney Home Nursing Service (NSHNS) & Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Policies and Procedures, strategic directions and contractual obligations.

The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance of safe, quality clinical patient care standards. Ensuring that patients and carers receive safe, quality, appropriate, person centred and effective nursing care. All care is developed within a collaborative framework where patients and carers are partners in care

The NUM develops and implements systems and processes to support staff in the delivery of professional, person centred care and leads the ongoing development of processes to fully integrate quality, risk management, patient safety and infection control processes within APAC/NSHNS at the centre level. The NUM must communicate effectively with the APAC/NSHNS Management Team in relation to all aspects of patient care, staff and resource management.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

Registered Nurse-Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) AND Relevant management tertiary qualification OR equivalent work experience, OR a combination of study and work experience; and demonstrated commitment to professional development. Current NSW Driver’s Licence
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) with demonstrated networks and partnerships with multiple / key stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to critically think, prioritise competing demands, make decisions independently but also work effectively as team member.
Demonstrated experience in the application of quality improvement strategies.
Sound knowledge of health clinical information systems, and collection, analysis and reporting requirements to management.
Sound knowledge and understanding of Financial Management, Equal Employment Opportunity legislation, Work Health and Safety principles, Cultural Diversity, Patient Safety and Risk Management.
