Creating links is seeking an experienced Gambling Financial Counsellor to lead the provision of financial counselling services to people experiencing financial hardship as a result of gambling problems. While the position is based in the Bankstown office from time to time there may be requirement to travel to other locations.

As our Gambling Financial Counsellor you will provide assessments and develop case work frameworks with referred clients, deliver tailored group community education, provide confidential counselling to clients with addictions on how to access a range of entitlements and resources to improve their financial affairs. Additionally you will act as a confidential resource person to other Creating Links team members on financial matters.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a minimum 2 years’ experience working with clients experiencing Problem Gambling, hold a Diploma in Financial Counselling and accreditation as a member of the NSW State Association of Financial Counsellors (FCAN). You will be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of consumer protection legislation and policy, credit system, debt recovery and bankruptcy laws especially when advocating and negotiating with credit providers on behalf of clients.

Additionally you will be able to provide a valid Working with Children Check Clearance, a National Criminal Records History Check and provide evidence of a valid Driver’s License. Fluency in a second relevant community language as well as English is desirable but not essential.

Finally but not unimportantly you will have a high level of interpersonal, active listening, analytical and report writing skills and the ability to produce statistical returns.

Pursuant to experience a competitive salary will be negotiated with the preferred candidate. Additionally as a not for profit entity the position includes a generous salary packaging option of up to $15,900 annually as well as reimbursement for reasonably incurred expenses. This a fixed term position for 14 Months with possibilities of a contract extension.
