About the Department
Riverside House residential aged care facility caters to 30 Aged Persons' Mental Health (APMH) beds designed to deliver contemporary best practice person centred care. Riverside House compliments a suite of existing St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne's residential facilities: Auburn House, Cambridge House, Prague House, and a new addition, Berengarra.

About the Role
In this full time, permanent role, the nurse unit manager is responsible for leading the efficient, safe and effective operations of the unit and its staff. The successful applicant will ensure the delivery and coordination of the highest standard of resident focussed and consumer-led care and be responsible for the compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards and SVHM policies and procedures. The NUM reports to the Group Manager, Residential Aged Care Services and works in collaboration with the Director of Nursing to achieve, maintain and promote professional standards of nursing practice.

Classification for this role will be NP51 ($114,400 per annum).

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Current registration with AHPRA
Previous experience in a senior management role is essential
Residential aged care service experience is desirable
Post-graduate qualifications in Aged Care and/or Mental Health
Comprehensive understanding of professional nursing practice, legislative and regulatory frameworks
Leadership qualities with proven ability to direct, enthuse, motivate, support and encourage a multidisciplinary team
Excellent communication skills

Duties

Provide leadership and management of the operations of a 30 bed aged care unit
Lead, coordinate and support efficient and effective resource management in order to achieve optimal continuity of care in accordance with relevant legislation and professional and operational standards including within the context of psychiatry in ageing.
Foster and maintain a workplace culture that supports engagement and actively delivers person centred care
