Principal Procurement - Production Technology - Perth Based

This blue chip mining company is looking for a Principal level Procurement Specialist with an extensive background in Technology.

Purpose
Reporting to the Manager Production Technology Category Management, you will perform a principal role by providing domain category expertise in ensuring the business's Supply needs strategically match with the market. You will take responsibility for supplier management and development as well as contract administration and engages with the team to track and monitor performance targets of optimal cost of ownership and surety of supply.

Key Accountabilities:

Leads the development of innovative, value-driven category strategies by synthesising deep category knowledge, market intelligence, awareness emerging markets and a detailed understanding of business needs
Develops strong relationships with internal business leaders and key stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate these into Supply needs
Monitors application of Supply category management processes within the team to support compliance with internal and external requirements
Leads the development, with Specialists, of a sourcing plan aligned with category strategies
Works collaboratively with stakeholders and challenges appropriately to develop sourcing strategies that balance stakeholder needs, productivity, commercial value and risk
Builds compelling cases for change supporting sourcing initiatives and influences stakeholders and supply market to implement change
Leads adoption of innovative sourcing techniques within the team such as "clean sheeting", e-auctions and TCO
Executes higher value and higher criticality strategic sourcing projects and provides coaching and guidance to Specialists on sourcing projects and processes
Supports Specialists in supplier negotiations and leads higher criticality negotiations
Develops relationships with identified key suppliers and works with the business to design performance measures and track and manage performance for selected key suppliers against contract and business requirements.

Functional & Technical Capability

A comprehensive understanding of production technology, which supports the discovery, extraction, processing, transportation and selling of resources to customers
Deeply familiar with markets and suppliers relating to manufacturing/logistics/operations platforms, control/automation systems, machine-to-machine networks and sensor/actuator infrastructure within the mining and oil and gas industries
A comprehensive understanding of the concepts captured within ANSI/ISA-95 within the context of the resources industry
Significant experience in leading the end-to-end Source to Contract process across a number of sub-categories within Production Technology
Proven results in delivering recognised value and improving processes through influencing
Ability to analyse complex business processes and risk factors.

Skills & Qualifications

10+ years of relevant industry experience with a focus on category management
Ability to effectively work in a team (cross functional)
Proven ability to influence across functions
Experience developing category strategy documents and business cases
Competency (commercial, technical) in specified category and end-to-end category management
Deep understanding of sourcing techniques and strategies and knowledge of innovative sourcing methodologies such as TCO, "clean-sheeting", e-auctions
Strong negotiation experience
Ability to analyze complex business processes, risk factors and control systems
Risk management skills
Experience with ERP systems and Sourcing tools - Ariba, Bravo.
