We are Access Community Housing Company Ltd (ACHC). We were first established in 1991 and have now grown to be the largest community housing provider in Far North Queensland, supporting some 1,100 tenants within a portfolio of approximately 600 properties that span locations from Mossman to Babinda.

We provide accommodation to families, individuals, and seniors who are on the Department of Housing waiting list. We are passionate about our role in the community and have established a reputation for providing responsive housing solutions to eligible individuals and families who are otherwise at a disadvantage to secure private rentals. We work in partnership with local support agencies, government departments, real estate agents and investors to create positive housing outcomes for our tenants.

We have a newly-created opportunity for a Health Worker to join our team on a 12-month contract to support clients with accessing a range of support services.

Your role will be to provide support and intervention to people requiring mental health support, drug and alcohol support, and support around their general health (crisis, short term and mobile support). You will work alongside ACHC staff to assist our clients with their health and wellbeing while maintaining their tenancy responsibilities.

You are passionate about providing a holistic, person-centred approach to general wellbeing and you take a preventative approach wherever possible. You are empathetic, practical and open-minded. You understand that health and psychological wellbeing are determined by a combination of medical, behavioural, social and environmental factors, and you believe in equitable outcomes for all, regardless of their background.

You have deep empathy for people and enjoy sharing your ideas with the people you are designing programs for. You are innovative and like turning new ideas into reality and genuinely making a difference in a person's life. Your 5+ years of experience include drug and alcohol services, mental health or, working with Indigenous groups.
