What you'll be doing

This position provides assistance and support to the Medical Imaging Department in the delivery of services to patients, under the supervision of a Medical Radiation Scientist (Radiographer). The role involves assisting Radiographers in the performance of examinations and or procedures on patients, transporting of patients, assisting with patient lifts and transfers, equipment and general cleaning / room tidying and departmental administrative responsibilities. The Allied Health Assistant may be expected to work across sites and participate in weekend/shift work.

The Allied Health Assistant salary level is dependent on qualifications:

Level 1 – No Qualifications;
Level 2 – Completion of 12 or more months' service as an Allied Health Assistant Level 1 or Certificate III, or other qualification deemed equivalent, or successfully assessed as possessing competencies required for Cert III by way of RPL.
Level 3 –Certificate IV qualification or other qualification deemed equivalent or successfully assessed as possessing competencies required for Cert IV by way of RPL.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Basic understanding of radiation safety principles.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office and email applications.
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required) as delegated by supervising Radiographer.
Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and principles.
Ability to work shift work with a demonstrated high degree of reliability and punctuality.
