Position Description

IPSec is looking to add an enthusiastic and experienced individual to its growing team and as such is searching for an SIEM Security Engineer to provide technical expertise in the integration of a variety of IT infrastructure’s security event logs, to IPSec’s hosted LogRhythm SIEM.

The role is responsible for working with clients to enable the ingestion, tracking and reporting of all in scope Log sources into the SIEM and as such requires a breadth of both technical and security expertise across a variety of technology.

The SIEM Security Engineer role reports to the Service Delivery and Projects Manager within the Delivery Team.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Consulting Services – Work with the customer and sales team to identify, define and verify the scope of log sources to be ingested into the SIEM so as to provide optimal value from the SIEM technology.
Engineering Services – Provide engineering services to provision hosts for collector agents and to install collector agents, remote management and monitoring software.
Security Services – configuration/administration of Active Directory, Group Policy.
Technical Services – Provision of technical and security services as required to aid the customer in the configuration, maintenance, diagnostic or other functions as required to assist the customer in on-boarding log sources.
Documentation – Ensure the adequate documentation of all actions taken affecting the status and/or performance of customer appliances and services.

Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, Experience

Interpersonal and Communication

Strong customer empathy.

Ability to simplify the communication of complex solutions and technologies.

Technical

Technical expertise working with a SIEM (preferably LogRhythm)
Analysis and Troubleshooting of IP networks
Technical expertise in Windows, Linux and Unix platforms
Windows System Administration expertise (Active Directory and Group Policies)

Security

Security knowledge of Windows, Linux & Unix platforms
Security knowledge of Firewalls/UTMs, IPS/IDS, Anti-virus, VPN, Web/Email filtering, MFA, WAF

Technical Management

Project management skills in planning, coordination of internal, contracted and client resources to facilitate changes, updates and/or upgrades focused on ensuring a smooth service delivery for customers.

Team Player

Ability to work with teams, especially clients and sale’s people.
Empathy with the objectives of a small service business and those of its individual team members.
Preparedness to support the development of other team members.

Education & Experience

Education requirements are to University entrance and experience is a minimum of 3 years in a technical infrastructure role and 5 years IT experience.
