Experienced Financial Accountant - Operations required to join NSW State Government in Parramatta, commencing ASAP

$50-$55 per hour + Super | 35hours per week

Our NSW State Government client provides potable drinking water, wastewater and some stormwater services. They are currently seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their Operations team in Parramatta. This is an estimated 6-month temporary assignment, with a potential to extend.

Working within People and Corporate Services, you will be responsible to provide accurate and timely processing of accounting transactions, prepare account reconciliations and audit work papers whilst contributing to the Accounting Operations business unit to achieve business outcomes

In this rewarding role, you will be undertaking the following duties:

Deliver accurate, timely and efficient processing of accounting transactions
Preparation of a wide variety of reconciliations and work papers
Perform journal preparation, processing journal entries and preparing general ledger of account reconciliations
Process sundry debtor invoices
Perform Treasury administration tasks
Provide General Accounting support including budgeting and forecasting
Complete project accounting support including creation of projects, resourcing, building activities and closure of projects
Establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships facilitating engagement and collaboration
Deliver expertise advice and guidance
Allocations of costs
Complete checks, investigate and analyse unclaimed monies
Produce annual and routine reporting
Provide fixed assets and stock take coordination
Ensure compliance with standards and targets
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to assist in cost reductions

To be successful in this great assignment you will have the following:

Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting, Finance or equivalent field
Minimum 5 years General Accountant experience
Public Sector experience highly desirable
Strong computer literacy skills and proficiency with Excel, SAP and Peoplesoft
Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
Superior organisational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
Strong technical capabilities including analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills
High attention to detail with a strong team and task focus
Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
