Appointment Pool

John Curtin College of the Arts are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.

The College anticipates that there will be one (1) permanent position available upon commencement of the pool. There will also be fixed term appointments available that will be determined upon commencement of the pool.

The college is looking for expert, passionate teachers with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Applicants will need to demonstrate the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school curriculum and have proven success working with very able students. Demonstrated understanding and/or experience teaching Gifted and Talented students is desirable.

The suitable applicants will support the implementation of the colleges Business Plan, work and teach in a team environment, be committed to whole college approaches and initiatives, and have a strong evidence based approach to teaching. The suitable applicants should have experience in the use of the Explicit Teaching Model and differentiating the curriculum. Adopting inclusive practices, focusing on student centred learning and building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role. Suitable applicants need to be committed to developing curiosity, innovation and imagination in every person through inspiring minds and learning for life.

Our college caters for more than 1800 students from Years 7 to 12. Our programs reflect our belief that all students are individual and come with different learning needs. We use the Arts as a vehicle for student engagement and motivation. The Arts at John Curtin is as much about providing dynamic opportunities for all students (each year we produce over 100 performances/exhibitions) as it is about developing transferable life skills such as empathy, creative and critical thinking, collaboration and the ability to communicate, all important attributes for any future pathway.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

* Professional practice; and
* Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

* complete the Departments induction program within three months of commencement; and
* complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
