About Us

Our client is a global metal processing |Fabrication | Manufacturing business based in western Sydney. They pride is providing quality turnkey solutions to their customers in time . As a result of their significant growth and expansion they are currently recruiting a Production Manager to manage all aspects of production.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for

Manage a team of 50+ (permanent), approx. 15+ (contractors), 7 leading hands (team leaders), 4 supervisors across 5 sites.
Oversee all aspects of companies equipment production process and demonstrate a strong "hands on" management style.
Develop an intimate knowledge and understanding of the overall Workshop/Production schedule. Plan and manage production to ensure smooth operations within the assigned timeframes, whilst monitoring and improving costs efficiencies, minimising waste, downtime, and maximising labour output. Regularly monitor and review production team performance.
Translate agreed strategy into clear, achievable, and specific goals, and to take ownership of daily and weekly manufacturing performance.
Possess a strong ability to delegate tasks - providing direction, leadership, support and guidance to all team members.
Promote growth and development of team members in line with individual aspirations and aligned with business needs. Be a strong advocate for continual improvement, and welcome opportunities to improve all facets of the company.
Review & assess current, and/or set & implement new standards, processes and procedures to sustain the high-level finish and quality of the equipment whilst still maintaining good health and safety standards.
Be comfortable with, and see the value add in utilising the processes and practices of LEAN, Six Sigma, 5S manufacturing to:

Increase output.
Maximize usable workspace.
Reduce downtime.
Eliminate overproduction and underproduction.
Eliminate errors caused by having too much WIP.

About You

Degree qualifications in Engineering or related discipline is desirable.
Experience in metal processing /Fabrication environment is advantageous.
Proven leadership skills - motivate, influence, and maximise team performance.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills
You feel strongly of the ethos: "lead by example". This role carries significant responsibility.
Must have the confidence and capability to back your decisions and hold your team to account.
