Your role:

This isn’t your ordinary admin or HR job. In this highly valued role, you’ll keep all aspects of Navy personnel management and administration running smoothly on a ship or ashore. You’ll be responsible for managing human resource functions, crew administration and coordination of executive processes and procedures—providing advice to Command and management accordingly.

Your core duties as a Personnel Administration Specialist will involve:

Acting as the Personnel Officer to the Commanding Officer,
Providing advice to Command and supervisors on personnel management issues,
Providing advice to sailors and officers on conditions of service entitlements,
Processing personnel and deployment administration,
Maintaining personnel records through management systems,
Clerical duties, including filing and handling of correspondence,
Assisting with the preparation of applications,
Providing advice on leave and travel entitlements,
Processing accounts and maintaining finance records,
Among others.

The role can be broken down into two parts, consisting of professional tasks and general ship duties.

When working ashore, your professional tasks will include preparing and dispatching correspondence, office admin, maintaining documentation, general HR functions and processing financial conditions of service, among others.

When working at sea, you’ll be involved in your professional role as well as tasks that affect the operation of the whole ship. These may include being part of the medical emergency team, first response team for incidents or assisting in boat and aviation operations that happen at sea, all which provides great variety day to day.

Salary

Be paid to train and learn the skills required to become a qualified Personnel Administration Specialist. Upon completion of your initial military and initial employment training, you’ll enjoy a competitive starting salary package of up to: $78,108 including service and uniform allowances, as well as a Maritime Allowance (if applicable).

In addition to your salary, you will receive generous superannuation, housing subsidies and free medical and dental care.
