Financial Accountant - ANZSCO: 221111 – Accountant (General)
Full-time/Permanent

Duties and responsibilities:

Implement and maintain new accounting systems introduced to the company and ensure integrity of data at all time;

Train staff on correct procedures to enable the correct use of all financial software being used;

Review and confirm accuracy of sales processed between invoicing system and the main accounting system;

Review and reconcile balance sheet and profit and loss statement (monthly) and prepare any end-of-month adjusting journals;

Inventory control;

Update Monthly Budgets v Actuals v Previous Period - summarising this data and providing trend analysis to management and recommendation of any changes required;

Review weekly payroll prepared by accounts clerk and authorise, further to this reviewing each departments performance against sales. Reporting to each department any concerns or recommendations on cost cutting;

Review weekly Profit and Loss reports and provide financial recommendations for changes required to increase profits and submit to management for review and implementation;

KPI reporting on each department and providing immediate recommendations for changes to made to ensure the business maintains a level of gross profit;

Prepare and maintain weekly cash flow forecast;

Review and confirm accuracy of Debtors and Creditors weekly and update cash flow to reflect trend in Debtor and Creditor movements;

Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions;

Review and maintain strong internal controls;

Verify documentation and authorising disbursement;

Final review of monthly and quarterly IAS and BAS (ATO) and ensuring the company meets all its Tax obligations and preparing correct journals;

Review and lodge Monthly Payroll Tax Returns;

Work with external accountants and prepare end of year work paper files and providing reconciled financials for lodgement of Company Tax Return;

Maintain confidentiality and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential.

Requirements

Bachelor degree or higher qualification and at least two years of relevant experience.
